New lychee variety "Qingfeng" on display
New lychee varieties, developed by the Fruit Tree Research Institute of the Guangdong Academy of Agricultural Sciences, could soon be available to consumers.On June 21st, a fascinating lychee germplasm resources exhibition took place at the National Litchi and Banana Germplasm Repository (Guangzhou), showcasing over 200 lychee varieties from Guangdong. The event highlighted the biodiversity of Guangdong's lychee and the new breeding pathways in its development.
China's national lychee germplasm resource repository in Maoming is home to over 700 pieces of lychee germplasm resources, ranking first in the world.
The exhibition was divided into five areas: New Varieties, Premium Varieties, Precisely Evaluated Germplasm, Innovative Germplasm, and Outstanding Germplasm. The display included lesser-known new varietiesas well as well-known premium varieties. There were also innovative germplasms with traits such as early ripening, high sugar content, large fruit size, enhanced storage, and transport resilience, along with germplasms identified through precise evaluation for qualities such as disease resistance, high amino acids, high sugar, and high acidity.

200余种优质荔枝品种亮相广州
“清风”“离娘香”“粤靓红”“赛糯”……不久的将来，这些荔枝新品种有可能从广东省农业科学院果树研究所走向大众的餐桌。21日，一场让人大开眼界的荔枝种质资源展示活动在国家荔枝香蕉种质资源圃（广州）举办，现场展出200多种广东荔枝，精彩呈现了广东荔枝的生物多样性、育种新路径。
据介绍，国家荔枝种质资源圃目前保存荔枝种质资源700多份，数量位居世界第一。
本次展示活动设荔枝新品种、优质品种、精准鉴评种质、创新种质和优异种质共5个展区，既有“清风”、“离娘香”等不太为人熟知的新品种，又有“仙进奉”“凤山红灯笼”“冰荔”“桂味”“糯米糍”等大众耳熟能详的优质品种，还有极早熟、高糖、大果形、耐贮运的创新种质，以及对资源精准鉴定后的抗病、高氨基酸、高糖、高酸等种质。
